Once the figures were all colored and cut out, students began making the pages for their tunnel book. A tunnel book is not really a book, but is a tunneling sculpture. We used three pages (foreground, middle ground and background), the top two layers had holes cut in them so that all pages could be seen at once. By seeing each layer, we created depth with a usual 2-D material. Students added backgrounds and props to their book and began coloring everything in. Once each page was assembled individually, we put together our pages using an accordion piece of paper. The paper binding on each side allowed the book to stand on its own and it kept the distance between the pages even.
